About comments on blogs...

As you know, I love comments on my blog.  This little guy over here ==>  

helps me love blog comments.  It's a way for me to interact with my readers.

As you may know, Blogger (the blog platform I use and actually really like) changed it's comment form word verification to something pretty awfully hard to use.  I only noticed because I didn't get any comments on my blog for over 2 weeks, and that's pretty unusual.

So.... I have turned it off.  Yay!  But the spam commenters have also increased... Boo!  So I'm managing the spam as best I can, but let me know if you see one?   

In the meantime, comment away!!

Things to do with old crocheted lace

Since I now have piles and piles of old lace, I thought I would share some fun things to do with old bits and bobs over a series of weekly posts.  I'm totally hooked on Downton Abbey and am finding more and more uses for lacey bits around the house.

If you are obsessed with old lace like I am, and wonder what to do with the ever growing piles, I hope you enjoy these!

My first usage is to make an easy lariat style necklace out of it.  You could add beads to the ends, or use a scarf slide to hold it together, but here I have just tied a simple knot.  This one is made from a wonderful 36 inch long skinny pillowcase edge.

This N That #35

Time really does slip away sometimes...  These past couple of weeks were no exception!  So here's a little bit of what's going on with me!

It was my birthday last weekend, and I spent it in Zion IL at the Lake Michigan beach with lots of quilters!  That's right, it was Quilt Retreat weekend, and I always have a lot of fun.  I get to meet new people and see some old friends.  It was really nice!  Perfect for a birthday get away... I don't have to make my food or my bed and sew all weekend?  Awesome!

My piece Dunkelheit was accepted into a Technology show in May in Rhode Island. I'll post more details as it gets closer.  I'm so happy this piece is so well received!

As if my lace and vintage stuff addiction wasn't bad enough, someone introduced me to Downton Abbey, and I'm irrevocably HOOKED.  After catching up on seasons 1 and 2, I can't wait to devour each episode.  Between this and Boardwalk Empire, my lace and antiques budgets are going to take a beating this year.

I can hardly believe we are getting into the comic book show season again.  I am already prepping for shows this year, the first is in February.  Just when I thought I had a few moments to myself at home, travel starts back up again...
